10 Fun Free and Open Source Role-Playing Games
Submitted by Roy Schestowitz on Sunday 26th of June 2022 11:37:35 AM Filed underA role-playing game (RPG) is a genre of video game where the gamer controls a fictional character (or characters) that undertakes a quest in an imaginary world. RPG video games originate from tabletop or pen-and-paper RPGs, such as Rolemaster or Dungeons & Dragons — a type of game in which the players impersonate their characters by actively describing their actions and thoughts.
It’s difficult to define an RPG given that modern games often contain elements from another genre. Traditional RPGs often let you improve your character as you play and interact with elements of the environment or storyline. You may have a menu-based combat system, and a central quest.
There is an eligibility criteria that needs to be met to be included in this round up (see below).
Let’s explore the 10 games. For each game we have compiled its own portal page, a full description with an in-depth analysis of its features, a screen shot of the game in action, together with links to relevant resources.

While you can install any other operating system in it, it is best to have it as it is for convenience.
Unfortunately, Steam Deck or anything similar is not available everywhere. So, what if you can convert your system to a Linux-powered retro gaming console using a distribution?

MakuluLinux: What’s Next on our Agenda?
Submitted by Roy Schestowitz on Tuesday 21st of June 2022 09:14:38 PM Filed underNow that Shift has been released, we are still busy working on the Debian version of Shift due later this year, but what else beyond that is happening ? Well, We have also started working on a “GameR” Edition of MakuluLinux, this build is specifically tailored to hardcore gamers using platforms like : Steam, Lutris, Gamehub, Itch, Geforce-Now, Epic Games, Wine etc etc… These platforms are often quite difficult to setup and often have conflicting dependencies issues. One way that users work around the issues is by using Snapd or flathub installs to bypass Dependencies issues, however these installs also come at a price as both flathub and snapD don’t quite give you the same speed boost as the native app client packages. This is where “MakuluLinux-GameR” is focused, We are actively working to provide these platforms in their native forms running at the max possible speed without Dependencies issues. At The same time, it being a Makulu release, you can also Expect it to be very slick, pretty and beautiful … Here is a Sneak Preview Screenshot of the Desktop of a very early build of MakuluLinux-GameR
