Two RHEL4 and FC5 Books, Face To Face
I have bought the first one (Negus), and even if I have not did the same with the second one (Sobell), I can make a quick comparative review, as I have it available.
At first sight (and practice will confirm it), you can choose either of the books without being wrong. They're both targeted to the beginner to intermediate user who wants no know more about Fedora, RHEL or CentOS, in an accessible language, a practical presentation -- and having a book is rather handy at times, as you don't need an Internet connection to read anything
Negus comes (I will refer to the books using the author name) with a DVD with Fedora Core 5 (i386, 3 GB), plus 2 CDs: a LiveCD (built with Kadiski; also usable for a netinstall) + a selection from Fedora Extras (1,678 packages, 667 MB).
Sobell comes with Fedora Core 5 on a DVD.

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world. Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources. The company also announced it was partnering with Red Hat to ensure these technologies have Linux compatibility. |
