Vote For Linus
Is the inventor of Linux one of your IT greats?
Open source software is part of the IT furniture these days, but it is only 15 years since Linus Torvalds put out the first Linux release.
Back then, the code ran to just over 10,000 lines and was no more than a hobby for the 21-year-old. Today, with developers around the world contributing to the Linux kernel, it runs to about seven million lines of code, and the operating system is used by businesses and governments around the world.
As part of Computer Weekly's 40th anniversary celebrations, we are asking readers to vote for the people, technologies and organisations that have made the biggest difference in the four decades since Computer Weekly was first published. So if Linux Torvalds is one of your IT greats, let us know.
