Debian Install Guide
Debian is my first choice for operating system, as i feel i have more control over my computer with Debian than with any other OS.
The Debian install process has come a long way, however it is still somewhat daunting to the unexperienced user. Installing Debian you are presented with more options than most other OS installers; this may seem more complicated but really it gives you much more control over what software is installed and how it is configured, how your hardware is configured and when etc. Many of these tasks seem mundane but can be a lot more complicated once the system is installed.
There are therefor 3 distinct and complete distributions of Debian available, giving the user even more control over what software is deployed and how. These distributions take the fairly obvious names of Stable, Testing, and Unstable, and also Sarge, Etch and Sid respectively. Debian stable is exactly that, every package available in Debian stable has been through the testing procedure, patched and re-tested where necessary, and judged to be stable. Debian Testing contains packages that are going through the testing procedure and Debian Unstable contains packages that have undergone little or no testing.
Its entirely down to the user which distribution to follow.
