Italian Local Government Warms to Open Source
There is a natural tendency to concentrate on what is happening locally, and so most of the stories here on Open Enterprise are about what's happening in the UK, or developments that affect it directly. But it's important to remember that open source is a global development, and that things are bubbling away everywhere, all the time.
For example, a little while back, Iceland made some interesting announcements about open source. Now it seems that Italy is really starting to get serious:

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world. Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources.
