People see and want but then don't
People are strange. They want something new. Yet, they don't want to give up the old. They want bigger, better, faster and flashier without having to give up the known, the comfortable or the familier. In other words people want their omlets without having to break the eggs.
I bet you are just waiting to see if I will bring Linux and windows into this Well I won't dissapoint. The problem however, is not just Linux and windows. The exact same problem exists with windows and windows. That company that started with gates and turned into windows probably thought it would be a simple matter of closing one window to open another. They did find however, that people seem to regard the breeze from the previous window to be more palatable than the sugary scented aroma from the current offering. Especially in the largest market, enterprise.
I guess it all comes down to the WOW factor.
