Linux gets work done!
Situation:- Add a new hard disk to a windows computer. Copy the files from the second partition of the first hard disk to the new hard disk. Back up the files from the first partition in case something goes wrong. Then repartition the first hard disk so it is a single partition.
That doesn't seem like a hard task now does it? It should have been a piece of the proverbial pie. So easy that people with a little computer knowledge can do it. So why did the person trying to do this have problems?
When they tried copying files over they were getting an error saying that the disk was full, there were security restrictions or the files were in use. They knew the disk was not full. The files should not have been in use as they were not executable files and the user was an Administrator and had full rights. There should have been no problem. Anti-virus program? That was turned off. User rights on the files? That was checked. The problem was not immediately found and as time was limited it couldn't afford to be spent searching around the internet.
