Lockheed Martin Selects Concurrent's RedHawk Linux
Concurrent, a leading provider of time-critical Linux operating systems for mission-critical applications, today announced that Lockheed Martin has selected Concurrent's RedHawk Linux operating system and NightStar development tools for the Navy's Cruiser Modernization COTS Refresh 2 program.
The modernization program will leverage the Aegis Open Architecture (AOA) computer programs to refresh the Aegis Weapon Systems on seven Aegis-equipped cruisers. AOA transitions key functional areas of the Aegis Weapon System to a component-based architecture. With AOA, the modernization program will enhance performance, reduce the cost of the Aegis Weapon System and extend the service life. Concurrent has been selected as an annual supplier to the Aegis program and this selection is a multimillion dollar opportunity for Concurrent.
