Jolicloud's OS Isn't Just Similar to Chrome OS--Looks Like It Will Run With It
The first netbooks based on Jolicloud are coming to market, ahead of Chrome OS-based ones.
Like Chrome OS, the Jolicloud OS is focused entirely on managing cloud-based applications as opposed to local ones (see the screenshot below). Its other similarity to Chrome OS is that it is squarely aimed at the netbook market. Jolicloud comes pre-loaded with avenues to numerous open source applications. And now, the first netbook based on Jolicloud's OS is announced.
The company had previously said that it would focus on low-priced netbooks able to play 720P video, with several USB ports. Now, it appears that the first Jolicloud netbook based on an Atom N550 chip will come with Google's open source Chrome OS Chromium core pre-loaded.
