Production Model Boxee Box Finally Shown Off
With more and more content being made available over the Internet and more and more television manufacturers cutting the prices of their hardware, it’s become almost a necessity to get some type of Internet connected set-top box. While broadcast providers usually hook subscribers up with some sort of set-top box that normally features DVR functionality along with some sort of video on demand service, it’s lacking some key features.
While Boxee is the platform, Boxee Box (or DSM-380) is the hardware counterpart manufactured by D-Link which will be the first to run the Boxee platform. If you’re not familiar with this set-top box it features an ARM Cortex A9 processor in addition to HDMI, optical digital audio, RCA, USB and Ethernet ports. The Boxee Box also features an SD card slot, 802.11n WiFi and an included remote. All things you would expect from a worthy set-top box competitor.
