Open Source for iTunes arrives
ADHERENTS of the two new IT religions of the post modern age, Open Source and Apple, are set to clash over an idea being pushed forward by a bloke called Rob Lord.
Lord has come up with a wizard idea to have an Open Source music machine called "Songbird" which is based on the same underlying open-source technology as the Firefox Web browser.
Songbird will play all the music that an iPod will play, and all those that it won’t. The thing is that it is Open Source and this is where the fun is starting.

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world. Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources.
