What’s the difference between a Hub, a Switch and a Router?
Hubs, switches, and routers are all devices that let you connect from one computers to other computers, networked devices, or to other networks.
Each has two or more connectors called ports into which you plug in the cables to make the connection.
Hub :
A hub is a small, simple, inexpensive device that joins multiple computers together. Its job is very simple: anything that comes in one port is sent out to the others. That’s it. This is quick and easy ways to connect computers in small networks.
Hubs operate using a broadcast model.

Gosh Mr. Basic - tell us more
If only I knew of a good "A hub, a switch and a router walks into a bar" joke.
Go ahead caller
Mr Obvious is on the line...
I don't know how many folks are familiar with the sketch from the "Bob and Tom Show" ,but I would love to see Mr Obvious take that call.
Caller "Hi, Mr Obvious, first time caller, long time listener. I'm having a problem with my router, hub and switch for my home network."
Mr Obvious " Go ahead caller,I'm not a computer guru, but I'll try to help the best I can."
Caller " Well, Mr Obvious, I plugged the hub into the switch and the switch into the router, but I still can't seem to get to the other computers in the house."
Mr Obvious " Oh my caller, I don't think it's supposed to work that way."
Caller " It's not? huh"
Mr Obvious " No caller, I believe those are all devices to be connected to the computers and modem you have, and then connected to each other."
Caller " Wow Mr Obvious, I'm glad you mentioned that, I'll have to give that a try. But I have another problem Mr Obvious.."
Mr Obvious " Well, go ahead caller, I'll try to help you."
Caller " well, you see Mr O, when I plugged those all together, the router started making a sound, kinda like 'NYANG NYANG NYANG..."
Mr Obvious "Oh dear caller..."
(Mr Obvious fans will recollect the kitchen sink garbage disposal episode here. lol)
