Gimp is being sabotaged
They're munging Gimp up again. I say it over and over again. And truly, if every interface overhaul was so great, then why would they need to change it again? Huh? Hmmm? Where's all the 2.4 advocates saying that 2.4's interface change was so perfect, now?
Instead, I'll be patiently drumming my fingers waiting for the rest of you to wake up to what I'm noticing. Which I will state here more plainly than I have ever stated it before:
Gimp is being sabotaged.
Almost certainly from the inside. The sabotage is almost certainly directly sponsored by Adobe.
Every version of Gimp breaks compatibility with old plug-ins, renders all previous tutorials obsolete, destroys any continuity of user base from one release to the next. It cannot pick up momentum. Its base cannot grow. All Gimp users are caught in a time warp, a Groundhog Day cycle.

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world. Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources. The company also announced it was partnering with Red Hat to ensure these technologies have Linux compatibility. |

Hey Dummy
Hey dummy...
Single-window mode will be an optional view. You can just disable it and revel in your own stupidity. Make sure you bitch about something that isn't an issue at all...it makes you look intelligent. Put your finger in your mouth and pull it out prying on your cheek and make a popping sound. That's the sound of your head coming out of your arse.
Relax (a little)
Of the few penguinpete blogs I've read here at tuxmachines, I've mostly disagreed with what he had to say. But you were a little hard on him.
We are blessed with the GIMP, the rapidly evolving KDE Krita, and for vector graphics, the steadily improving Inkscape.
For me, unlike Penguin Pete, the graphics glass is half-full rather than half empty. I look forward to trying the GIMP with the new interface. We don't need no stinkin' Adobe.
Adobe
"We don't need no stinkin' Adobe." Yeah, except there's still flash and pdf. pdf isn't so bad, but flash ...
Re: Adobe
With flash, I think the need for it will wane , and it will be replaced (with HTML5). With Adobe PDF, we've got open source alternatives (evince and okular) that replace most of its capabilities.
