The LAN party
The brakes squeal slightly as you pull up to the house. Opening up the boot you perform a juggling act as you sling the gear bag over your shoulder, grab the LCD screen and feel pleased with yourself that you attached the grab handle to the computer case. Your going to a LAN party and your going to kick some butt.
From the house comes some muted booms and explosions coupled with a fast paced sound track. Arriving at the door you take a breather and then start pounding to catch someones attention. After what seems an eternity the door finally opens.
The blast of sound and smell of pizza and smoke hits you full in the face as you advance into the crowded lounge room. The only source of light comes from the flickering monitors and as your eyesight adapts you make out intently staring excited faces as the players perform mouse and keyboard movements, reminiscent of concert pianists.
