So about an hour from now it will be eighteen months exactly that I’ve been using Linux. Being as how the bulk of my Linux experiences led me to the mighty Slackware about three months ago, and because my first nine months with Linux were spent using Ubuntu...I want to give five good reasons why I prefer Slackware over Ubuntu.
1) The release cycle. Ubuntu releases a new version every six months whether it’s ready for prime time or not. During the time I used Ubuntu and switched over to the latest versions I inevitably encountered glaring bugs that I had to wait to be addressed by updates. Updates, updates, updates, a fact of life with Ubuntu not to mention each new version containing “bleeding edge” features that I never used. Slackware is different.
2) Speed. Slackware is just faster.
