Should You Care About Linux?
Linux: It’s fast, it’s free, but is it time to load into your PC? Maybe not quite yet. Recent revisions of the software make it easier to overcome the biggest hurdle for the non-techie users — installation — but it is still an operation that will take lots of time and may just be beyond the skills of the average user.
Speed Makes It Worth the Trouble
There are two reasons for the rapid growth of Linux — speed and the “ABM” (anything but Microsoft) market. In the past year, however, the software has become extremely popular with the tech set. Analysts estimate that there are more than 15 million Linux users.
With Linux, you will get a faster machine. That speed is best illustrated if you play networked games online. Use a machine loaded with Linux and, everything else being equal, your machine will simply process faster — like lighting an afterburner on a jet.
