Penguicon 2009
This year I went to a convention known as Penguicon. It is a convention where you can dress up as your favorite anime/Star Wars/ or whatever you want to dress up as...if at all. I choose the scariest costume that I can muster. ME.
When I was first asked to attend this convention I was thrilled. I had visions of hardware vendors galore and very interesting panels that would help me in my quest for a complete Open Source lifetime in computers. Sadly this was not the case.
Next was a panel called Guide to Modern Ubuntu Distros. This was again very misleading in my opinion as I was expect a walkthrough of ubuntu and what was in store for the future of said Distribution. Again I was disappointed as all it really was was a bunch of commands that I did write down.....all extremely technical....then at the end of the discussion we were told that none of this mattered anymore because the commands that we spent the last HOUR talking about were not in use since the Ubuntu 5 release. Did you just hear a thunking noise?

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world. Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources. The company also announced it was partnering with Red Hat to ensure these technologies have Linux compatibility. |
