Testing Linux Distributions in VMWare and Parallels
A long time ago I used to actually use a separate computer to install and test Linux distributions. I even built some of the boxes that I used to do the testing. These days I use VMWare and Parallels to run Linux on my Macs. Why? Well you can constantly be downloading and installing different distributions with a minimum of fuss and hassle. You don't need to tie up an entire machine just to check the latest cool distributions.
Installing A Guest Operating System
One of the nice things about using VMWare and Parallels is that you don't have to actually burn a Linux CD or DVD to install it. You can just use the .ISO file that you download from whatever your preferred Linux repository is. Makes it much nicer than having to have a bunch of burned Linux CDs laying around all over the place. My desk used to be cluttered with them back in the days when I used to install them on a separate PC.
