Ubuntu is not a new word for Linux
I spend a lot of my time looking through various Linux related web sites. At times I get bored and use stumbleupon to go through the Linux/Unix category in hopes of finding new sites or information. Over the last year or so I’ve been noticing a trend that has been annoying me. It seems to be growing by the day and I finally have to say something about it. Ubuntu is not a new word for Linux!
I see blog posts, articles, videos, and more one after an other with reference to Ubuntu when the person meant to say Linux. Either it is for software that is available for Linux, or a trick someone can do on a Linux box, or even references to kernels. It seems someone at some point decided to go through thousands of blogs and replace every instance of the word Linux with Ubuntu.
