Hidden Linux : New Compiz Effects
've long been a fan of Compiz desktop candy (see here and here), so when I saw version 0.7.6 had been released I rushed to install it.
The release notes give details of updates, fixes and new additions, but I wanted to try out the sphere and cylinder alternatives to my usual desktop cube. Here's some comparative shots...
The latest version's not yet in the Ubuntu repository, so here are the installation steps:

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world. Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources.
