Hans Reiser Explaining 'Construction Project' and Nina's Blood
Hans Reiser took the witness stand for the eighth day at his murder trial here Monday and offered innocent explanations over why his wife's blood was discovered at his house, the last place where she was seen alive.
He offered two explanations why the authorities found trace amounts of Nina Reiser's blood on a pillar near the entryway in that Oakland hills house. One reason could have been that she cut her hand while cooking that summer -- despite her not living at the house, he said. She also unexpectedly popped a blood vessel in her nose, he testified.
And moments before the lunch break, the Linux programmer who developed the ReiserFS filesystem, said he threw away the carpet in the hatchback area of his tiny two-seater because he was in the midst of a "construction project" and was converting it into a bed. (He had already testified he had thrown away the passenger seat of the tiny Honda CRX, a 1988 two-seater so he could sleep in the vehicle, and he had also testified earlier he tried to hide the car from the police.)
