Jurors attempted, but couldn't bring themselves to take notes. The judge hid his head behind his hands. So continued the second week of the defense of Hans Reiser.
Defense attorney William DuBois on Monday showed jurors a brief video on a large prompt in which the defendant is explaining his Reiser4 filesystem. Jurors tried to take notes, but the techno-speak wouldn't seep in. The judge, clearly exasperated, hid his head behind his unfolded hands. Alameda County Superior Court Judge Larry Goodman then used his palms to prop up his head.
The judge called the lawyers to chambers after 15 minutes of the February, 2006 tape. On the tape, the defendant was wearing a black bomber's jacket and appeared pudgy, unlike his skinny, pasty persona now after 16 months in jail. The defendant was giving a presentation with titles such as "Filesystem Most Central Namespace of OS."
