Linux: Think different
This is one of the smartest thought of the year : The right approach for the free software community is to offer a different product. Indeed, we should not try to copy Windows or Mac.
We can eventually get some ideas from them ( as Firefox take somes ideas from Opera ), but trying to provide the same things and as feature complete is just a waste of time and pure nonsense. We will not have enough power to do it, and we don't have the QA to even do it properly ( I will talk later about the quality issues in present Free softwares ).
When looking carefully at Apple strategy, you can see that they always try to provide a different experience to their users, they are not providing a Windows-like experience, they are providing the "Mac experience" ( and today it's the iExperience ). Google also is providing its own experience to the users.
