• Preston St. Pierre opines on Linux.com that X/OS is an undistinguished Red Hat clone, where "undistinguished" is rather disparaging, à la "why do we need it?"
I allowed my self to comment — it's the first anonymous comment, if it's still there. At least until CentOS 5.1 releases (which won't happen before RHEL 5.1 releases plus a few weeks maybe), I can see some advantages of using X/OS 5.0 for a RHEL clone.
My problem is not "which RHEL 5 clone to use", but rather "why is RHEL 5 so castrated"? It's not about the hibernation problem I had and solved (at least for me), and that might be even better solved in RHEL 5.1 and its clones.
It's about its inability to detect the proper burning speeds for my "super-multi" DVD, which makes me to need to use GnomeBaker to burn DVDs and K3b to burn CDs!
