Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world. What do you expect, they also keep that uber-annoying hack writer Chef Francais (Marcel Gagme) on board as well.
Save your money and just subscribe to Linux Magazine (more tech, less religion).
Probably written by a staff writer who thought he was being cute
The tip on how to unpack, modify, and repack Ubuntu's initrd (a gzipped cpio archive -- using cpio is ugly) is a keeper. But the shtick used to introduce the column does have misogynistic undertones, now that you mention it.
As for Monsieur Gagné, his books are good aids for those moving to Linux from another OS (it helps if you like Mandriva). Linux Journal keeps him on board because his column, love it or hate it, is very popular.
