The Lesser Apps of KDE - Multimedia
Everyone who's ever owned a computer has at one time or another found a need to play some kind of multimedia file, play a cd or dvd, or watch a video on their computer. KDE provides a list of built in applications that allow you to do that. While they won't cover all your needs, they do cover a lot. So let's look at each of these and what they offer you.
KsCD
This program is a simple cd player program. Just pop your audio cd into the cdrom drive, close the door and enjoy your cd in all its glory. KsCD also includes a direct connection to the CDDB (CD database) so that you can pull up artist and song information with a single click. There's a complete set of on screen controls as well including volume, a placemarker (so you can fastforward or rewind instantly through a song), and play controls.
