Preparations begin for Reiser trial
A courtroom for the murder trial of Hans Reiser was assigned Monday but opening statements aren't slated to begin for several weeks.
On Monday morning, Reiser's defense attorney William Du Bois met with Prosecutor Paul Hora in judges' chambers to discuss various motions in the case and hammer out a schedule for how the trial will proceed, including jury selection.
``It's going to take a while to put this jury together,'' Du Bois said. Once the trial gets underway, it could last several months.
Hans Reiser, a prominent computer science engineer, was charged with murder last October because police say they have biological and trace evidence suggesting that Nina Resider is dead and blood evidence tying Hans Reiser to her death.
