Getting more out of less
Anyone who knows Linux and other similar operating systems like Unix and BSD should be familiar with the paging program called "more". They should also be familiar with its successor which offers much more functionality but is called "less". Less offers much more than simple forward and backward paging.
Most people use less just quickly look at the content of a text file or as the recipient of the output of a command. It does do a very good job of that. Some of the other tricks I have found with less are for when the output is wider than the screen the left and right arrows allow that output to be seen. So you can not only page up and down but left and right too.
The real power of less is for its search and editing capabilities.
