Well, hasn't this been an interesting week. To say that the Linux Community lacks passion is akin to saying Van Gogh didn't like stars. In any event, and regardless of your personal feelings about the Tux500 project or mainstream advertising for Linux, most of the people we talk to agree.
Regardless of this particular project, This is the direction Linux needs to go. Also, we can provide a bit of commentary as to WHY it is the direction we should choose.
The matrix is simple. Any product or service is not going to grow unless people both use it and tell other people about it. This of course leads to new users, customers, stockholders...place your pick of nounage here. And this, despite all sorts of rumor and second-guessing, is what the Tux500 is all about. We're not here to address any particular feelings we as a community or individuals have about Tux500. That seems to be proliferating nicely in other places. We'll just let that simmer as long as it needs to. We're going to give you a snapshot of where we are as of this published date and what we plan to do in the near future. And once again...why.
