Red Hat belittles Oracle's Linux wins
Red Hat has declared itself unimpressed with Oracle's list of 26 customers for its Red Hat Linux support business.
In a Q&A session with financial analysts on Thursday, Red Hat chief executive Matthew Szulik said that Oracle's high profile win of Yahoo's business is in fact limited to a few Oracle database servers.
"I spoke with Yahoo executives yesterday, and they were very quick to respond that they have had, and continue to have, a very successful relationship with Red Hat," said Szulik.
"They have selected Oracle Linux to run on a number of Oracle database servers, but expect currently, and in the future, to have a successful relationship with Red Hat."

Oracle claims dozens of customers
Oracle Corp. executives have finally revealed the names of 26 enterprise-class customers that have gone with that company for their Red Hat Linux support needs. However, the number of customers in that list doing wholesale migrations to Oracle's brand of Linux is much smaller.
Only the International House of Pancakes is on the record saying Oracle Enterprise Linux completely replaced Red Hat in its data center. In a statement, IHOP CTO Patrick Piccininno said the switch from Red Hat to Oracle Enterprise Linux "couldn't have been easier."
So who has sided with Oracle for their Linux support needs?
In addition to Yahoo and IHOP, Oracle said it now provides Linux support for Timex, Diebold, GlobeCast, ABC Stores, Stuart Maue, Replacements Ltd., Mutual Materials and Hays Medical Center, BNP Paribas, Raley's, Powell Industries, Columbia Forest Products, Deseret Power, Fulcrum Analytics, New York State Insurance Department, The Cobalt Group, Stemilt Growers, The Gem Group, Stanford University, Vcommerce, Knife River Corp., Primavera Systems, Centre de Services Partagés du Québec and Spaulding Equipment Co.
