Or is he bronze? Who will win big on Oscars night? The 77th Annual Academy Awards will be airing Sunday, February 27 at 7:pm central time on ABC? Hey, this is like the superbowl to me!
Seems "Million Dollar Baby" and "The Aviator" are the major contenders for best picture as well as their directors, Scorsese and Eastwood, for best director. Other nominees for best picture are...
"Ray", "Sideways", and "Finding Neverland". I didn't see those three, but I hear Jamie Foxx's performance was dead on as Ray Charles, nominated for best actor.
Also up for best actor are Dicaprio and Eastwood for their work in, again, "Million Dollar Baby" and "The Aviator". Underrated Johnny Depp don't stand a chance.
Other notables include Cate Blanchett, nominated for best supporting actress, who plays screen legend Katharine Hepburn in "The Aviator". I remarked in my review how wonderful that performance was. I hope she wins.
Hillary Swank is up for best actress in "Million Dollar Baby" and her co-star Morgan Freeman was nominated for best supporting actor. Running against Freeman is Thomas Haden Church for his work in "Sideways". Remember him from 'Wings'? Also noteworthy is the visual effects nomination for "I-Robot".
Full List of nominations.
