The Myths of DST
I would be lying if I said I was a big fan of Daylight Savings Time (DST). I dislike having my circadian rhythms messed around with. If I wanted to get up an hour earlier I would fly or drive east. To me legislating things like DST is similar to passing a law making Pi equal to 3.0 so the math is easier. Adding four weeks to DST is just adding insult to injury. I am all for saving energy. I just have my doubts this really saves enough to offset a world full of grumpy sleep deprived people. The only people I know who like DST are also people who are habitually morning people. They would get up no matter when the sun came up, so I am not sure why I have to suffer because they are morning people. But enough grousing. Unless you are in IT of course.
In a "Shades of Y2k" experience, if you are in IT, you are patching all your time critical systems right now. This intersects Linux of course because Linux is affected by this rampaging ... err... change.
One of my senior technical people internally wiki'ed this handy document about the Myths of DST:
Myth 1: Unpatched systems will have incorrect clocks

Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources.
