Lenovo Monday unveiled a version of the ThinkPad X41 laptop device that incorporates a Tablet PC functionality.
The device can switch from a standard laptop to a Tablet PC by flipping the screen panel, the company said in a statement. The ThinkPad X41 without tablet capabilities was released recently and is Lenovo's lightest-weight laptop.
At 3.5 pounds, the combined laptop-tablet device weighs about half a pound more than the plain ThinkPad X41, although Lenovo claims it is 20 percent lighter than similar devices from other vendors.
The device is the first released by Lenovo since it acquired the IBM division that developed desktop and laptop computers. It is based on the Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 platform, Lenovo said. The device will be available on June 14 starting at $1899.
