Linux May See Software Restrictions
Open sourced software coding Linux, which is touted by companies including Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) and Red Hat (NASDAQ: RHAT), may have its access blocked.
The product is popular for altering software and is used for encryption technology for music downloads and for TiVo (NASDAQ: TIVO). New restrictions may be put into place that will restrict firms from using any Linux code, affecting multiple companies.
Businesses may also be barred from suing over Linux related patent infringements.

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world. Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources. The company also announced it was partnering with Red Hat to ensure these technologies have Linux compatibility. |

Huh?
Dumbest Article EVER.
I read it twice, and still found no usable information.
Doesn't explain why or how this would happen.
It would help if they actually understood that Linux is an OS, not "a popular product".
As to "Businesses may also be barred from suing over Linux related ..." perhaps they've read about SCO???
WTF! FFFFUUUUUDDDDDDD

Here we go:
"Open Sourced" Since when was Red Hat ever origonaly propietary? correct me if I am wrong but didn't they side with Gnome to be open source before QT was opened evn though they have opened up some propietary products they were/are based on GNU software primeraly.
"Open Sourced software coding Linux" what?
Does Linux code itself? My the penguin has become powerful, intelligent software developed by computers. Long Live Tux
Yes linux used a closed file manager before git but, wtf?
Linux was written on a closed OS, yes but that was ancient history back in the days of windowz 3.1 and macintosh rule.
"may have it's access blocked"
By who? in what area of technology? Linux may be stopped from working on computers? Linux will be stopped from working on a computerised device??
yes it mentions TiVO but what does that have to do with anything, there are numerous companies using Linux and GNU software for firmware on their devices, eg BT broadband modems UK.
SCO did and are suing Linux, to admire the previous posters comment. But this means nothing, simply put their case ammounts to nothing, their wallets are shallow and have the taint of M$. The only way they could win is if they had videotape evidence of meetings that IBM was planning Linux 2.8.x on the SCO technology. Even then it would probably make their out of court settlement with Big Blue smaller (i.e. settle for no counter suit)
This article would be best described as FUD if it actualy said anything, the fact is it doesn't. It seems to offer people links to trading sites.
Hmmm Linux is a hotword in the stockmarket?...
Wether it works or not, Linux as an OS has reached critical mass, It's here to stay and is evolving every day.
