COMPUTER CORNER: Linux provides systems for Christians
Operating systems for Christians? Sound silly? It may sound silly but it's true. Recently, two versions of Linux have come out geared towards the Christian faith. One is called Ubuntu Christian Edition and the other is Ichthux.
These operating systems have programs for email, web browsing, office and other commonly used applications. What makes them unique is that they come pre-configured with software geared towards Christians like the Gnome-Sword program. This is basically electronic Bible software that allows you to do Bible study. There are also other things like daily Bible verses on your desktop. You can add these programs in any other version of Linux via the online repositories but these distributions just make it easier for the novice computer user to use these tools.
Both are LiveCD operating systems, which means you can run them completely from your CD drive without installing to your hard disk if you like. The thing I love most about Linux is the ability to customize an operating system and then share it with others.
