Aussie Feds assess open source
FEDERAL government use of open-source software will be examined to assess how many agencies have adopted Linux and other systems.
The Australian Government Information Management Office will survey 163 federal government agencies as part of a review aimed at gathering evidence of open-source software use at a Commonwealth level.
Much of the office's knowledge about Australian government agency use of open-source software is anecdotal or incomplete, according to the tender document seeking a contractor to carry out the review.
