New KOffice supports Oasis
Users of the KOffice suite of applications have something to celebrate over Easter: the release of KOffice 1.5. The biggest change over the previous version is the use of the Oasis open document standard - the same standard that OpenOffice.org uses. Two new applications - Access-like database application Kexi and project planner Kplato - also make their way into the impressive stack.
Another major advance is the unified scripting solution, Kross. The cross-language support for scripting (hence the name) allows for scripting in both Python and Ruby.
Kross is easy to include into programs previously lacking scripting abilities, and is included in version 1.5 as a technology preview.
