Slackware 14.1 on Its Way

Just when we needed some exciting development news Patrick Volkerding declared Current Beta, 14.1 is officially on its way! Distrowatch.com's top-secret webcrawler found the tidbit in this morning's changelog.

Saying "it's been better than beta quality for a while," Volkerding warns there could be a few more changes here and there, but "please test." The changelog reports numerous rebuilt and upgraded packages. Some include:

X.Org Server 1.16.3 Released To Fix Security Issues

Julien Cristau of Debian announced the X.Org Server 1.16.3 release on Saturday morning. The primary focus of this release is on correcting the security issues within the GLX, DIX, XV, DRI3, RENDER, and other areas of the xorg-server code-base affected by outstanding security problems. Read more
