Mageia 4 in the Works

Linux

Mageia 3 was released in May and after a "postmortem," plans for Mageia 4 have begun. The development and release schedule are in place and some interesting feature proposals have emerged. A couple have been proposed before, but others are new ideas.

With Mageia 3 out the door, the team sat down to discuss what worked and what didn't. The results have been posted on the Mageia wiki, but developers want shorter freeze times and more alpha releases. QA wants developers to give them more time for testing pre-releases and a "cool down period," or time between going gold and announcing to the general public. Triage said, "we should not create a new 'version' for the upcoming one in the bugzilla before she is released, or we will miss real bugs like in this cycle..." Everyone is asking for automated building and testing.
