Duke Nukem Forever has gone gold
When we say a game has "gone gold," it means that the work on the game has finished, and a master copy has been sent out to the duplication plants to be pressed, packaged, and shipped out to consumers. This used to mean that the development team could take a break, but now going gold is likely to simply start a countdown to the inevitable day-one patch. Let's not be cynical, however, because today is a grand day: Duke Nukem Forever has gone gold.
"Duke Nukem Forever is the game that was once thought to be unshipppable, and yet here we are, on the precipice of history," said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. "Today marks an amazing day in the annals of gaming lore, the day where the legend of Duke Nukem Forever is finally complete and it takes that final step towards becoming a reality."

DN gone gold
Just glanced up from my computer screen to look out my window . . .
saw a flock of pigs flying by.
re: dn
yeah, I heard hell froze over.
Re: Duke Nukem Forever has gone gold
I am SO glad the end of the world has been pushed back five months so we could all finally play this.
re: dn gold
Yeah, I just might have to get a copy of windows so I can play it.
Do you know I just found out a few months ago that the 15 year old DN 3D could be played on Linux natively?
re: dn gold
Natively as in without the need of DOSBox? That sounds intriguing to me. I cleared through the game more than I'd like to admit, but I might have to play through again before DNF gets here
re: dn
yeah. Apparently, Ryan ported it years ago. But I didn't hear of it until this guy either made PPAs for Ubuntu / Debian(s) out of it or his own port. It works really good tho. Stable, responsive, modern controls.
He's got Windows and Mac versions too.
