Making move from Windows to Linux
Another month and yet another security problem plaguing the Microsoft Windows operating system platform. If in late December we had the Windows Metafile (WMF) vulnerability, a few weeks later Microsoft announced a patch for one more critical hole that affects users of the Microsoft Exchange e-mail server and Microsoft Outlook e-mail clients.
Malicious hackers could easily take over a Microsoft e-mail server or computer by simply sending a carefully prepared malformed message. The arbitrary code would execute upon receipt of the mail, and does not require any user interaction such as opening the message or double clicking an attachment to activate.
This could result in the propagation of Internet worms that would use hijacked e-mail servers to spread spam or malevolent applications to take over other computers.
As such, Windows users must seriously consider and invest some time to secure their computers.
