The KDE 4.3 System Settings - Part 1
In our original article two years ago, we did a complete overview of the entire KDE 3.5 Control Center, a task that was not small by any stretch of the imagination. This time detailing the new System Settings control panel for KDE4.
First off, System Settings, like KDE4 itself, has both a new and a classic layout. As much as I prefer the classic menu in KDE4, I prefer the new layout for the System Settings panel, as it lends itself to much easier, and more readily comprehensible navigation.
The new panel, in its new configuration, is broken into two main sections. Namely, General and Advanced. General is all of the things that are your day to day standard configuration options. Advanced contains, well, the more advanced features you're not likely to touch more than once or twice a year, if at all. This simple separation of categories and sections really makes the System Settings panel much easier to work with.
