Open Source Patterns from Fortune 500 Success
Flashline, author of software asset management solutions, has put together a Patterns Book for helping get Open Source projected started within an enterprise, even very demanding ones.
In its Pattern Book for Open Source in the Enterprise, Flashline has assembled many of the insights and Open Source Best Practice for a successful Open Source IT project in the enterprise, including (a) creation, ( launch and (c) ongoing management. The book addresses both technology and business issues, including building a business case, making the budget, setting up staffing, and even learning what you need about licensing.
Materials in the book were culled from engagements with Fortune 500 firms, as well as federal agencies, according to Flashline execs. The Flashline Pattern Book consists of nearly 20 templates for project plans, presentations and worksheets addressing key issues, requirements, and milestones.
