Over 40% of Open Source Developers Claim to Fix Bugs in Under 8 Hrs

According to a survey by Evans Data Corp., open source software (OSS) developers find and fix software bugs quickly, with 17% of them being able to find and repair severe bugs in less than four business hours on average.
The company's Fall 2005 Open Source Software/Linux Development Survey found that another 25% of OSS developers claim to be able to find and fix severe bugs in their software in four to eight business hours.
"Some of the main strengths of open source software development are the communities that have grown into knowledge repositories for development. Using these communities an open source developer can find and fix severe bugs much more rapidly."
