Package Managers Overview
Todays article will touch on some of the different style package managers that are available for use with different distrobutions. This will be a quick overview of a few of the most common package managers and some basic commands that will help get you interacting with them in no time.
Package managers are common for nearly all Linux distrobutions that are maintained today. Some of the most popular distrobutions found there fame and ease of use characteristics due to the extensive package repositories that were freely available for end users to access.
The package formates we will be taking a look at here are the .deb, .rpm, and .tgz files. These 3 extensions are the most commonly found filetypes for Linux system software. I'm not talking about building a program from source code or even source rpm files. The type of files I will be discussing in this article are distrobution specific package formats and how to use them.
So without further delay..... lets get this started.
