Hans Reiser Murder Trial: The Vilification Defense Begins
The vilification of Nina Reiser is commencing in earnest here at Hans Reiser's murder trial.
Hans Reiser, the 44-year-old popular Linux open source programmer, is on trial here accused of killing his wife in 2006. After three months of the prosecution's case, Hans Reiser's defense opened Tuesday with verbal salvos portraying wife Nina Reiser as the not-so-perfect woman -- in stark contradiction to how the prosecution and dozens of its witnesses had described her.
On Tuesday, jurors were told of an affair, of embezzlement allegations, that she advertised herself in a European bride catalog, and that she became pregnant with the couple's first of two children before they married in 1999.
