Ubuntu 7.10 Review
Ubuntu has quickly achieved mass attention, it was also #1 distribution for a long time. It has done some great work like ship-it to promote Linux. But I am really disappointed with the current trend. The current release is a mixed bag, but is completely unacceptable in terms of Ubuntu's glorious past.
Installer bugs are a strict NO, for any software. Right now, Ubuntu needs to only focus on "Bug-free, efficient installer". No software can beat the competition if the installer is buggy. Also Ubuntu should not limit the options given to open source enthusiast.

Ubuntu is a trademark, not an OS
Why some folks still invest time trying out what has always been nothing but a HOAX?
Ubuntu excels only for the vast amount of cash behind its marketing strategy.
It is a shameless Debian rebrand with custom artwork.
There's not a single feature in any Ubuntu release i have tried so far that would make it approach Mandriva an inch. Nothing, zero, rien, nichts, nada!
A pity that for quite many novices, this pseudo-philanthropic hoax will be their frustrating entrance into the *nix world
re: Ubuntu is a trademark, not an OS
Yeah, it is.
You may not like it (I don't either), but Ubuntu's definitely more than Debian with brown wallpaper, or just a brand name. Its developers have heavily customized its kernel, scripts, and packages, and its packages are not compatible with Debian proper. The whole point to Ubuntu is making things as easy as possible for the Linux newbie, and they seem to have filled that niche fairly well.
It sounds like this reviewer'd be more happy using Debian.
