Linux Foundation Reinforcing its Legal Defenses
There's been a change in legal style and personnel over at the Linux Foundation.
General counsel Dian Peters is gone - reportedly to Mozilla - and her job has been essentially outsourced to former Black Duck counsel Karen Copenhaver, an ex-IBMer and licensing expert now a partner with Choate, Hall & Stewart, and Andy Updegrove, the consortium expert who had his own shop, Gesmer Updegrove, and high-profile among the open source set because of his Standards Blog.
Gesmer Updegrove is already the organization's outside counsel but the pair is described as "full-time Linux Foundation advisors" on licenses, standards and patents as well as a "dream team."
