PCLinuxOS leaves behind Ubuntu

Good news for PCLinuxOS fans!!!! But at the same time die-hard Ubuntu supporters must be worried. Here is why.

Finally PCLOS has taken lead from Ubuntu on the last 3 months based rankings on distrowatch.com. The H.P.D. today showed 2669 for PCLOS against 2668 for Ubuntu.

So the trend is clear Ubuntu is loosing the race to PCLOS.

Nope. Ubuntu is back up at #1

Ubuntu went back up, where it's supposed to be. Sticking out tongue

This is a signature. Bow to me.

re: Nope

Wow, I guess I'll drop my current setup and join the other mindless drones and install Ubuntu. Cause ya know, it's just oh so important to be part of the "in" crowd.

I dont care...

I dont care if PCLinuxOS is 1 or 100 or 1000. I'm just enjoying Linux and sharing it with friends who might like it too.

Peace!

What's the fascination with the DW rankings, anyway?

Texstar, you guys did a fantastic job with PCLinuxOS 2007. The distro, the forum, and the wiki together add up to a great Linux experience.

I don't understand peoples' obsession with the DistroWatch rankings. Who clicks on links to DW distro pages? People who are already familiar with Linux already know the web addresses of all the major Linux distros, or can easily figure them out without the help of DistroWatch.

Who does that leave? Newbies, maybe. Windows users who are curious about Linux. People looking for links to reviews, possibly. So how does that make the DW page hit rankings a gauge of how popular a distro is?
