    Once more, at The Linux Foundation's Open Source Summit, Cardano's chief open source officer Dirk Hohndel and Linux creator Linus Torvalds had a wide-ranging conversation about Linux development and related issues.

    Torvalds, who hates public speaking, said that he always does these presentations as interviews because, "I do software. I don't do public speaking." The hindrance being, he explained, "I don't know what people are interested in. So, Dirk asks the questions and, hopefully, if he asks bad questions, it's not my fault."

    The Cardano Foundation has joined the Linux Foundation. In an announcement released by the Cardano Foundation yesterday, Cardano stated that they have joined the Linux Foundation as a gold member. The announcement added that this makes the Cardano Foundation the only non-profit active at this level.

    The tech unemployment rate reached 2.1% in May. That was a slight drop from April, but with 623,627 tech job openings, that's still a year-over-year increase of 52%. As good as that is, The Linux Foundation and the trusted learning platform edX's 10th Annual Open Source Jobs Report have found that for open source savvy job seekers, the market is even better than that.

  • Cardano Joins Linux Foundation as Gold Member

    Cardano has announced that it is now a member of the Linux Foundation. According to a blog post, the Cardano Foundation has joined as a gold member, becoming the only nonprofit active at this level.

On Linux handbook, we already have a guide on deploying Ghost with Docker in a reverse proxy setup. Instead of Ngnix reverse proxy, you can also use another software called Traefik with Docker. It is a popular open-source cloud-native application proxy, API Gateway, Edge-router, and more. I use Traefik to secure my websites using an SSL certificate obtained from Let's Encrypt. Once deployed, Traefik can automatically manage your certificates and their renewals. In this tutorial, I'll share the necessary steps for deploying a Ghost blog with Docker and Traefik.

Red Hat Hires a Blind Software Engineer to Improve Accessibility on Linux Desktop

Accessibility on a Linux desktop is not one of the strongest points to highlight. However, GNOME, one of the best desktop environments, has managed to do better comparatively (I think). In a blog post by Christian Fredrik Schaller (Director for Desktop/Graphics, Red Hat), he mentions that they are making serious efforts to improve accessibility. Starting with Red Hat hiring Lukas Tyrychtr, who is a blind software engineer to lead the effort in improving Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Fedora Workstation in terms of accessibility. Read more
